Your envelopes
Each envelope is one budget line. It fills up as you spend, and a red tab means it ran over.
Bring your numbers over
On your computer, open Money Envelopes, go to Add statements and press Save backup file. Get that file onto this phone (email it to yourself, or save it to Google Drive).
Then come back here, open Add statements, and tap Restore from backup.
Your budget
YNAB rule 1: give every dollar a job. Change any amount and the envelopes update straight away. "Alert me at" sets when your phone warns you about that envelope.
| Line | Type | Plan per month | Alert me at | Note |
|---|
Trends
Spending each month against your income line. Card payments count in their debt envelope; transfers between your own accounts are left out.
Each envelope, month by month
The last column compares the latest month with the one before it. Red means spending grew.
Transactions
Every transaction and the envelope it landed in. Change the envelope if one is in the wrong place.
| Date | Account | Description | Amount | Envelope |

Add statements
Download your transactions as CSV files from RBC or Capital One online banking, then choose them here. Your phone warns you if an envelope passes its alert level. Anything already added is skipped, so it's safe to drop the same file twice.
Backup
Your data lives only on this phone. If the phone is lost or the app is removed, it's gone, so save a backup now and then and keep it somewhere safe.
Settings
Payees & payors
Who you pay, and who pays you. Give each one a usual envelope and it fills in for you when you add a transaction. "Shows on statement as" is optional: if your bank statement uses a different name, put a piece of it here so statements sort themselves too.
Envelope colour
Tap a knob to pick a colour, or colour each envelope by how full it is (green, then amber, then red when it runs over).
Desktop wallpaper
Turn these envelopes into your Windows wallpaper. Anyone who can see your screen will see it, so you can hide the dollar amounts.
Once it's on, it repaints itself every 6 hours (4 times a day), even when the app is closed. "Put my old wallpaper back" switches that off.
